Day 2 of my kohlrabi painting.
A new kohlrabi had to be set up so I could continue with my painting and this really "messy" stage is often where an artist can easily "give up" but I press on. The only problem is that this isn't the dear kohlrabi that I tried to paint last week but the colours are virtually the same. So, using the new kohlrabi for colour, tone, hue reference and then just observing the personality and attitude of the object, I try to pick up where I left off last week. 2 hours later and it is time to pack up and set off for home with the realization that I still haven't finished the (blessed kohlrabi) piece and next week there will (hopefully) be a new kohlrabi waiting for me. Maybe I can finish the background before then. The relationship between the background and the still life object is the difficult part to get right. As I get into my car to drive home, I feel so happy, life is good, really good.
